Durban & Johannesburg
Durban or Johannesburg, take your pick! Durban lies on the East Coast and boasts a fantastic coastline with a long, long beach, where you can enjoy the warm waters of the Indian Ocean through a variety of water sports. The city itself is a multi-cultural population comprising people of Zulu, British, and Indian descent. temples, mosques, botanical gardens, and modern shopping malls. Just outside of the city, you will find the Valley of 1000 Hills with breathtaking landscapes, valleys, and cliffs waiting to be discovered on its exceptional hiking trails.
From city to safari
Johannesburg is located north and inland of Durban. This sprawling city, born from the discovery of gold in the nineteenth century, is steeped in history and culture, from Soweto’s shanty towns, Constitution Hill, and its moving apartheid museum, to modern restaurants, shopping malls, and botanical gardens. It is also a gateway to Kruger National Park.
There's nothing quite like the rush and anticipation of a safari. What will you see around the next corner? Maybe a pack of hyenas cackling at you. Is that a hippo, just about to surface, or only the wind, rippling the waters? Kruger National Park is vast and is divided not by fences, but by regions, including private nature reserves. Stay in a lodge within the park, have giraffes as a guest while you sip your morning coffee, then lunch in the middle of the park while lions lazily watch you. Dinner in your lodge with a herd of elephants coming to say hello. Or submerge yourself in a Zulu village to learn the culture and history of the people.
