Extraordinary South Africa
From Table Mountain, majestically overlooking Cape Town, to its world-class Winelands and the gorgeous, ocean-hugging Garden Route, through craggy passes, ostriches, meerkats and caves full of stalactites, quaint towns with art galleries, safaris and private game reserves to see ‘the big 5’. This is South Africa!
Sitting below the majestic Table Mountain, on the southwestern coast of South Africa lies its oldest city, Cape Town. This diverse city with its vibrant centre, colour-soaked houses and sandy, boulder-strewn beaches should not be missed. From here, you can take a boat trip to the notorious Robben Island and its prison, where Nelson Mandela was held captive for 18 years. Ride the cable car to the top of Table Mountain for breathtaking views over Cape Town and beyond. Wander through the Bo Kaap area with its vividly coloured houses, formerly known as the Malay Quarter, the community here developed as a result of apartheid, and was brought here as slaves by the Dutch. The Malay food in this area is still prepared the same way it was, those 350 years ago. Take a walk through Cape Town’s city centre on a food tour, eat your starter in one restaurant, your main in another and dessert in the next.
