Fascinating Vietnam
From vibrant cities where night turns into day, to misty mountains, and valleys shimmering with emerald rice terraces, to national parks with stunning lakes to ancient towns and old trading ports, bays full of dramatic limestone cliffs, floating markets and cuisine that will set your taste buds tingling with influences from French, Malaysian and Chinese kitchens. Fragrant soups, spring rolls and the famous Banh Mi sandwich, not to mention the wonderful egg coffee Ca phe trung. Welcome to Vietnam!
Meander through the atmospheric winding, narrow streets of Hanoi’s old quarter, discover tranquil temples and learn about their 700 years of history, and one pillar pagodas, where devoted Buddhists worship.
Relaxing junk boats to bustling cities
Relax in the peaceful Myeong-hua Valley in a village rich in traditional culture. Venture into Phong Nha-ke Bang National Park and see the wide variety of flora and fauna, on the way to a stunning cave system. Stay the night on a Junk boat in Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam’s eight UNESCO World Heritage sites, and marvel at the towering limestone cliffs in their natural majesty. Watch stunning sunrises and sunsets on deck, swim in crystal-clear waters, and visit local fishing villages and caves.
Escape to the ancient, atmospheric town of Hoi An. Its iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, canals, and streets lined by yellow buildings, lantern-lit at night, is a stunning example of an 18th-century Southeast Asian trading port, just waiting for your camera. Cars and Motorbikes have restricted access in the centre of the Old Town, so peace reigns.
Drift along the Mekong River, drinking in the sights and smells of the fruits and vegetables that are grown in the fertile soils of the Mekong Delta region and sold on the floating market.
Lose yourself in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon. Its busy streets, teeming with locals and vendors are laced with the tempting scents of street carts laden with sizzling meats. Ever-moving traffic and thousands of motorbikes mean it could take you 10 minutes just to cross the road. Due to the heat of the day, evenings and nights are when this city really wakes up. Just outside the city, go underground at the Cu Chi Tunnels, which provided both shelter and secrecy to Communist guerrillas during the Vietnam War.
